Even when our instincts or the world push us toward self-preservation, true unity in Christ calls us to lead with compassion, tenderness, and love—especially when it’s the hardest choice to make.
How important is Unity?
How do you have one mind with people that you think differently? Compassion. Is compassion not being tenderhearted and courteous? Tenderhearted? Courteous? These are things that the world does not always encourage. Especially as a woman. Do you ever feel that you are told that you have to be ruthless or vicious in order to survive or make it in the world?
Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another, love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous.

I should exhibit these traits as a daughter of Christ, even when my feelings don’t align. Am I compassionate to those around me? Do they see the tenderheartedness of my Father in me as I go about what he has called me to do?
My Prayer
Father, so many times it is not my first reaction – to be tenderhearted. Most of the time this seems so contrary to what I have been taught, to prioritize myself. Please may they always see you in spite of myself. Let your compassion and love be the example I am able to show those around me.
